39 Days...

This past Sunday was a great day in the life of Radius Church. Our pastor challenged us with one of the monetary challenges to date. We have the opportunity to buy the old “Ace” building in Lexington. One catch..we are short on cash, which isn’t new to many churches or businesses trying to do what we are doing. But the reason why we are short is because in the past year we have given away 225,000 dollars. Looking at that number and not second guessing the decision to bless others was really cool. Our church has seen the need to move into a new location but saw a greater need to help those who needed it.
So he challenged our congregation to come up with a minimum of 110,000 dollars and max (to upfit the building) approx. 350,000. Again, nothing new in the life of a church..but we need to do it in 2 weeks! The life/impact of Radius does not depend on this building. The ministry will continue, it will only be a location we can call permanent.
I know our Pastor and elders have put endless time and prayer into this option. They have wrestled with the idea of doing it or not doing it. As a partner in the church I can say this is great. I believe everyone has a fear of the unknown. Sometimes it handcuffs us to not try new things to experience God at work. We crave the comfort zone because it breeds security.  I would argue that doing things that are “comfortable” allows laziness and predictability to creep in our lives…..BORING!

Don’t be stagnant, move. Try new things. Don’t worry about mistakes. Study the potential, calculate the risks, don’t be careless, and GO.

If EVERYONE makes mistakes…what’s keeping YOU from trying something new?
